Working at GBYM this summer, students will learn about developing and presenting digital media for the public. Both interns and apprentices will participate in a daily intensive training in their chosen fields: writing, scripts, film editing, lighting, sound, graphic design, photography, and more.
Students will learn how to research and create original works of media art in a way that is relevant, engaging, and accessible. At the end of the program they will have completed films and graphic designs to publish, to send to local leaders, and to send to festival competitions.
*All interns and apprentices receive a pay of $15.00 per hour that is subject to all applicable taxes.
Parent/Guardian permission to participate is required.
Interns and apprentices must be available for the entire term and participate in the required program hours. They must complete all projects in tandem with their fellow students and teachers.
The online application includes:
•A letter of purpose stating your reasons for participating in the program, what you hope to achieve from the experience, and how you would contribute to the team. (300-700 words)
•2 letters of recommendation. Examples of references are one of your classroom teachers, an after-school program teacher, or a guidance counselor at your school.
We recommend that you edit your application carefully before submitting, and perhaps ask one of your instructors to look over your personal statement. If you are unsure about how to write a personal statement, consider contacting your teacher, guidance counselor, or career counselor at your school.
